Poetry while I'm healing

Sky-Circles

The way of love is not
a subtle argument.

The door there
is devastation.

Birds make great sky-circles
of their freedom.

How do they learn that?
They fall, and falling,
they're given wings.

Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks

I love Rumi.

I have bad news. Before we could even get to the school board, that woman got ONE of the books banned from her daughter's school. A committee voted 7-4 to remove one book, but leave the other 5 in place. Since I don't attend that school, I can't appeal.

I appreciate all your advice on this matter... I will be watching Mrs. Hardee's next move. If this goes before the board again, she is going to have a fight on her hands.

Feel better soon!

Arrrrgh. Repugnant.

I saw a bumper sticker once that read "First they burn books, then they burn people."
